Dick Mills Non-scripture prophetic messages

                  Dick Mill's Non-Scripture Prophetic Messages
Encourages the Fruition of Prophetic Ministry

The restoration of the Prophetic ministry is important because the ministry of the Prophet is an act of worship, just as the ministry of praise is an act or expression of worship. You see some churches gladly put the label of pastor before the name of a man, but where are the other offices in the church when the ministry of Christ is five-fold:  Apostles, Prophets, Evangelists, Pastors, and Teachers?  This web page is concentrating on the ministry of the Prophet. One very good example of a true Prophet in the Foursquare Church is Dick Mills.

Dick Mills' Foursquare Church prophetic ministry was overwhelmingly based on Scripture. He memorized thousands of Bible promises and delivered
Holy Spirit-quickened verses (or short combinations of them) as personalized "good words" for encouragement, direction, or comfort. He rarely gave purely non-scriptural messages, visions, or predictions detached from the Bible.  All utterances were done by the leading/quickening of the Holy Spirit.

After an extensive review of his family's official website ( dickmillsministries.org ), testimonies pages, obituaries, pastoral accounts, CBN articles, and related sources, here are all the documented instances of prophetic messages from him that include clear non-scriptural elements (direct statements, visions, drawings, or predictions without citing a specific Bible verse). These are exceptions to his usual ministry of utilizing Scripture.

Why are these examples below important?  Because they show that God is not locked into only providing Scripture to people when someone has a need for a word from God. The examples below show that the words spoken by Dick Mills in these encounters were just as much a word from God as the encounters when Dick Mills was given Holy Spirit led Scripture applications to people for their particular need.  Why else is this important???

These examples below are also important because there are prophets in the Body of Christ who have not memorized Scripture as Dick Mills has memorized it.  These prophets can speak the word of the Lord to people in need without including Scripture in the words that are spoken to these people.  If the words they speak are given to them by the Holy Spirit for the people they are ministering to, then the ministry of these prophets are valid because the words coming from these Prophets are God inspired. See the examples below.

1. To Sharon Daugherty's daughter Sarah (Tulsa, Oklahoma – repeated visits) while Mills had the children's names mentioned (without seeing them), he directly stated about Sarah's fiancé: “He’s not the one.” This was a straightforward prophetic declaration, not tied to a quoted scripture in the testimony. The engagement ended, and Sarah later married the right person; they now serve in global evangelistic ministry.

2. To Steve Peterson (phone call, while he was driving to a pastors' prayer meeting) “God is going to take you where you have never gone, you will do what you’ve never done and say what you have never said.” This was a direct, non-scriptural prophetic promise. Less than 90 minutes later, an unexpected invitation opened to co-host a Bible TV show (this was a new broadcasting door he had not pursued).

3. To Parris Bailey (during dinner, exact year not specified but during their long friendship) Mills grabbed a paper napkin, drew a simple diagram of a house, and said: “In one year, God is going to give you a house like this and worth a certain amount.” Exactly one year later, someone gave the Baileys a house matching the drawing and stated value. Parris noted she wished she still had that napkin.

4. To Jack Hayford (years earlier, exact date not specified) Mills described a vision: He saw the Hayfords living in a house surrounded by a dozen pine trees, with a stream and a snow-covered mountain in the background. Jack initially resisted the idea (it sounded too far away, like a two-hour drive to Lake Arrowhead). Twelve years later, the exact property became available—just 45 minutes from their ministry.

5. To an anonymous couple (phone prophecy, around 1992 or earlier) Mills said the Lord was showing him that their property would be a “City of Refuge” amid great persecution that would be coming upon Christians. The couple reported it unfolding “little by little” over the years; by the time of the obituary (2012), they saw increasing relevance, especially in the Bay Area.

6. To Parris Bailey (January 2005, at Copeland’s Restaurant in Metairie, Louisiana) Mills referenced and spoke about a prophecy concerning a great flood that would destroy much of the region. (This was presented as something he was conveying or had received insight about; the testimony notes Parris challenged it internally at the time.) It was fulfilled when Hurricane Katrina caused levee breaches in 2005, forcing the family to “just trust Jesus.”

7. To a woman in London (UK, exact year not specified – “many years ago”) Mills said: “You have the capacity for storage of the promises and that you would be a walking Bible in two years. God would give you recall of the Scriptures when you speak to people.” This mirrored his own gift and prompted her to begin intensive Scripture memorization and study.

These represent the complete set of publicly available non-scriptural (or mixed with visionary/direct elements) prophetic messages from Dick Mills that could be located. In nearly every other recorded testimony, his words were explicit Bible verses or combinations of them, often with brief explanatory encouragement tied back to Scripture (e.g., explaining endurance as a “marathon, not a sprint” while quoting Hebrews 12:1).

Mills himself emphasized that true prophecy in his ministry was for edification, exhortation, and comfort (1 Corinthians 14:3), always pointing people to Scripture that is now becoming a specific word of God for their particular situation, rather than fortune-telling or personal decision-making (he refused to prophesy on marriage, jobs, or moves, directing people to seek God themselves).

If you or someone you know received a word from Dick Mills that fits this non-scriptural category (with a name, year, location, or additional details), sharing it could help uncover or confirm more. You can share it by going to the contact page on this website you are on right now ( worshiprestoration dot com), send it to us, and it will be added to this page you are reading right now. Otherwise, the vast majority of his impact came through the thousands of personalized Scriptures he delivered to over a million people worldwide. Those Holy Spirit led Scripture applications became the word of God for the particular need of many people.

The late theologian Karl Barth would be intrigued by the ministry of Dick Mills because Karl Barth communicated in his writing that Scripture becomes the Word of God as the Holy Spirit encounters the reader in a moment in time. Dick Mills showed us that Scripture can become a specific Word of God for someone as the Holy Spirit encounters that someone in a moment in time through the ministry of Dick Mills.  Wow !!! You can see how important it is that ministers are led by the Holy Spirit  in giving Scriptures to people that are supposed to apply to their particular situation. Holy Spirit guidance is of the utmost importance in this.
