God Encounters weekly TV Program Hosted By Cheryl Thomas
God Encounters is a weekly TV program that is hosted by Cheryl Thomas. It is meant to instill faith in the unsaved and boost the faith of those already going to Heaven. It is sort of the Oregon version of a different International program called It's Supernatural that is hosted by Sid Roth, a completed Jew. Both programs are designed to be a light to both Jew and Gentile with the goal of bringing people closer to the God and the Father of Jesus Christ through faith in Jesus Christ.
How is this God Encounters program connected to the command of Christ to worship the Father in Spirit and in Truth? Very simply: Listening to the testimonies of people being encountered by a supernatural God who cares, will cause these listeners to have faith in God, which can result in praise being offered to the Father by the people listening. Thus, GOD receives the glory and receives the praise and worship because of his communications to, or healings of, or miracles that had been given to people who come onto the program and give testimony of their encounters with the living God !!!
I would like to share my own amazing manifest encounters with God so that your faith is increased and it will result in you giving praise to the living God who encounters those who seek him, praise him, and worship HIM with their whole spirit, soul, and body for the glory of God through Jesus Christ. AMEN
An Amazing God Encounter:
I was living and working in a Christian communal ministry in 1976 that I had been ordained to labor and minister in. One morning the director of the ministry, during morning prayers, had us pray for rain because it had been dry for quite a few weeks, and so we badly needed rain for the garden etc...
I led out in prayer for rain, and commanded rain to come down out of the sky. It was a powerful prayer filled with faith !!!
An hour or two later, I was assigned to dig some needed ditches on the property there. During the day while I was digging, I would at different times raise my shovel handle into the sky, like Charlton Heston raised his staff over the Red Sea when he played Moses in the Ten Commandments movie, and I would audibly thank God that he was sending the rain in answer to my prayer for rain. When I raised the shovel it looked like I was raising a staff into the air, because the longer part that was raised up could look like a staff. I did this several or more times while I was working that day digging the ditches. I was not asking HIM to send the rain because I already had done that. I was instead thanking him that he was now answering the prayers for rain because FAITH is the substance of things hoped for and the evidence of things not yet seen.
It says in the Old Testament: You shall declare a thing and it will be established for you. I declared rain to fall from the sky in the name of Jesus Christ in the morning, and then during the day while I was working at digging ditches, I would thank him many times for sending the rain, and I would praise the God who answers prayer that the rain is coming.
PRAISE GOD !!! Just before quitting time, and just before dinner, rain clouds gathered in the sky, and when we were having dinner a deluge of rain fell from the sky, and the answer to prayer for rain was fully manifested. I ask you to now to raise your hands and audibly praise God for answering my prayer for rain that day. Ask God to also work in you the same God kind of faith I had that day for rain. God wants to work his wonders as a result of the declarations coming from you also.
Another Amazing Encounter with God:
During my time in this same Christian communal ministry, which was dedicated to the maturing of the Body of Christ, summer camp was in full swing. People would come to camp to receive healing or deliverance or teaching as all of these were available there, and worship services took place morning and evening. There was a prayer service following the evening service for those who wanted deliverance from evil spirits or healing from physical disease etc....
Because I was so young compared to the older men in the community, I was assigned to duties like making milk, mopping the floors, etc... But because of the good relationship that I had with an older prophetess in the community, I complained to her that I was not being assigned to any ministry team following the evening worship service. So she went to bat for me, and got me on a ministry team during one evening.
What took place during that ministry session is simply amazing !!! I went into the ministry room and stood next to the other older men in the room, and then one of those older men laid his hand on my shoulder, and all of a sudden there was a tremendous woosh of power that went into my body. The power of God was extremely strong in that room.
I was asked by the ministry leader to pray for the young man who had come in for deliverance from cigarettes. As I laid my hand on this young man and prayed for him, the power of GOD went through my arm and out of my hand like an electrical current, and went into the young man being prayed for by the five or six men who were on that ministry team. I believe he was delivered of cigarettes that evening.
I ask you to now to raise your hands and audibly praise God for answering my prayer to deliver this young man from those awful cigarettes that evening. Ask God to also work through you the same God kind of faith and that HE would manifest HIS power through your own body when you pray for people. Ask that the same manifest power that came through my body into this man for his deliverance would also go through your body to deliver people that you pray for. AMEN
Another Answer to Prayer ( God Encounter ) :
While being a part of this communal ministry I had a financial need. I used the same creative prayer method to pray for $5:00 that I had also used to command rain to fall from the sky, because all I needed was to get some shampoo and toothpaste or whatever it was that I needed. I commanded $5:00 to come to me in Jesus name when I prayed that prayer for what I needed.
Not long after that prayer, I had a visit from my parents who brought along my grandmother to see me. She walked up to me and handed me a five dollar bill. I had not shared with my parents or my grandmother that I needed five dollars, so this answer to prayer was truly miraculous, even though it was not a large amount of money.
Praise God for answering my prayer again. Please raise your hands now and audibly give praise to God, which is the fruit of your lips, for answering this prayer of mine. Ask him to also meet all of your NEEDS and NOT GREEDs by his power and for HIS glory !!! AMEN
Another Amazing God Encounter with the Spirit and Power of God:
After this communal ministry experience, I attended a Christian university that was founded on the power of God to heal, and that was dedicated to putting men and women into ministry that would take place through those going into all the world, and this means going into many various employment situations that would result in the Glory of God being revealed in various settings, and not just through the traditional kinds of ministry.
Following this university experience, I decided to work at a normal place of employment, as I was burned out from constant full time university studies. During the time that I was working, I would attend the Lutheran Conference on the Holy Spirit that would take place in Minneapolis for a week or more each summer.
During one of these summer conferences, a man by the name of John Wimber came to speak at one of these afternoon workshops. This man was the chosen one to bring the fullness of the Holy Spirit to Evangelical Churches. John Wimber headed up this new third wave of the Holy Spirit. The first two being the Jesus People Movement, and the second being the Charismatic Renewal among mainline churches. Click here to read about this amazing encounter with the Spirit of God.
What you just read should mightily increase your faith. Raise your hands and praise the God and Father of Jesus Christ, and if you have not been filled with the Holy Spirit, ask God to do the same work in you for HIS glory, honor and praise. AMEN !
Amazing God Encounters Taking Place While Being led During a Summertime to a Church that had Extended Worship:
I had been attending a church, where a desire to find a church that had longer praise through singing times was growing stronger in me. I did not have any particular church in mind because I did not know there were churches that had long praise/worship times, but the desire to find one grew in me. I also had been watching Sid Roth for a number of years, and because of the testimonies of many people who had encountered God helped my faith increase, God got was able to get a hold of me during the summer of 2011.
All kinds of amazing encounters with God took place that summer. I attended a Katie Souza Holy Spirit filled service some miles away from where I live. After that and during the same summer, I saw God work in an amazing way during a Native American revival service that you can read about on this page. Click here. On that page you will read about the signs and wonders that took place there. For example, one of the speakers was struck down by the power of God several times while he was preaching. Later that summer I similarly was slain in the Spirit after a man of God laid his hand on me to pray.
Also, God answered a prayer to stop the rain so that the parade, that the reconciliation float was featured in, could proceed without rain. Furthermore, after the meeting that afternoon, we had a communion service next to the Columbia River and someone tapped me on the shoulder and pointed to the sky and said to me: You see that cloud formation in the shape of a feather up there..... I looked up and saw a cloud in the shape of a feather with no other clouds nearby. He told me that the same sign and wonder took place at Wounded Knee when they had a similar reconciliation/revival service there also.
Also during that summer, I was privileged to attend a worship service that hosted a man with a unique ministry of gem stones manifesting during the worship service. These were signs and wonders from Heaven of God's presence. The person who hosted the conference also had a collection of gem stones from Heaven in her house. So from her, and from the ministry of the man with this unique ministry, I received a total of five gem stones. David, son of Jesse, took one smooth stone from the five smooth stones he had on hand to slay Goliath. Five is the number of Grace. God ministered a revival in my heart that summer by HIS grace.
To top it all off, God led me to Destiny Christian Fellowship at the end of summer only to receive a message, from the head of a ministry team that came from Bethel Church in Redding about the destiny that God had in store for me, which has been fulfilled in this worship ministry that God guided me into and has unfolded gradually through my life lived unto HIM. :-)
Amazing God Encounters when he Speaks Through Numbers to Me:
I just had one of these God Encounters today. When I was thinking about where to minister this Sunday, a church across town came into my thinking yesterday. Today, when I searched for it's website online, I saw that it is having a Sunday night Pentecost service lasting 2.5 hours. So I contacted the worship director by email and asked him to send to me a list of the songs that were on the worship set, so that I could practice them on Sunday during the day so as to prepare for the Holy Spirit Pentecost service later that day. Later when I walked into the kitchen, I saw the numbers 3:33 on the clock. This is God telling me that he likes what I am doing in planning to go to that Sunday evening Pentecost service and being my best.
God also gave me $3.33 when I purchased bananas. What? I had just come from an all day worship training conference, that ended with a Holy Spirit led evening worship meeting at the conference, where I was able to worship God with my whole spirit, soul, and body, which is full spectrum worship that tickles the heart of God. By giving me the number 333, God told me that he was pleased with my love for HIM expressed through the full spectrum praise that I had given to him that day and the worship training I was involved in where I felt so much at peace and at home in my worship leader/teacher calling.
Another amazing God encounter with the number 333 took place quite recently in early 2026 . After an immature pastor ministered hurt to me, God intervened and orchestrated a healing service for me at a church some miles away. The people involved in the healing service orchestration did not know that they were puppets in the hand of God. In fact in that healing church service: 3 things were given to me, 3 orchestrations took place, and 3 people prayed for me: 333. Not only that, but I was orchestrated to look at the computer clock on the library computer that I was using when I finished writing, on a web page, the previous sentence that is in red, and the clock said: 3:33 . How spectacular this was !!! God loves me so much that he confirmed to me that his divine hand was involved even in writing that web page sentence.
There are quite a few other times where I got 333 on a clock that God caused me to look at, or on the timer at the physical fitness club after I had prayed in the car on the way to the club. But another important thing to mention is that I have found other men and women of God who see 3:33 or 11:11..... So this is something that is not peculiar to me. Of course, before the creation of digital clocks God did not have this as a way to communicate with his people. God is a creative God, and if he wants to communicate in this way, I am all for it. He is God and I am not. Thank God for that too !!! :-)
Amazing God Encounter when Discussing the Importance of Extended Worship
There is a church in Redding, California that has four to five hour worship services on Friday nights, and as of the year 2016 a Shekinah glory gold dust cloud has become manifested during a total of 26 different Friday night worship and praise services. As I update this in 2026, I imagine there have been many many more. Healing and deliverance of people gathered can also happen, and does happen during extended praise and worship.
I was telling a couple over lunch about Bethel Church in Redding, California and how God has showed up in a very tangible way that does not take place in most churches. I told them that very few churches are willing to pay the price of having long extended worship services that please the heart of God. As I was speaking this message to them, the Spirit of God rose up within me with a strong manifestation of power that had nothing to do with my emotions. I could feel the power. My eyes became like saucers as I was so surprised by this power of the Holy Spirit inside of me giving me confirmation of the message I was speaking to this couple. God confirmed his message with signs of HIS power in me after the message ended.
Then, a few days later, I was telling a group of people about what I just shared with you in the last paragraph above, and added the truth, that it tickles the heart of God to have long praise and worship services. After I shared the story with them, I got what is called in some Pentecostal and Charismatic circles as HOLY LAUGHTER. This laughter was also a kind of gift from God to me, after giving this message to the group, and it was also a sign following what I shared that indicated God was pleased, and so I got holy laughter as a confirmation again that this extended worship message was from HIM and not me.
I will continue this page on God Encounters when I think of more encounters that I have had throughout my life.
